• Procession in Norco to honor LA County sheriff’s deputy who died in crash A procession through Norco on Saturday, April 17, will honor city resident Jeffrey Ryan McKee, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy who died in an off-duty traffic collision on March 28. The procession will start at about 9 a.m., the city announced. It will travel west on Sixth Street from California Avenue and then onto Norco Drive/Corydon Avenue and into Eastvale for a private memorial service at a church. A trooper stopped a car that was driving erratically on I-95 southbound and Ives Dairy Road. The video shows a trooper jumping backward out of the way as a driver speeds off after the stop. • Panther fatally struck by vehicle is 14th to be found dead this year An endangered Florida panther has died after being struck by a vehicle. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says it’s the ninth panther death attributed to fatal collisions, out of 14 total deaths this year. Wildlife officials say the remains of the 1-year-old female panther were found Monday in Lee County on Interstate 75 near Fort Myers. On Saturday, the remains of another 1-year-old female panther were found in Collier County on a rural road to the south of Immokalee. Florida panthers once roamed the entire Southeast. • Pasadena police describe second suspect vehicle in Villa Parke double murder Pasadena police have provided a second suspect vehicle description in a December shooting at Villa Parke that killed two men and left a third injured. Detectives obtained surveillance footage of another car believed to be involved in the murders. • Driver jailed for 22 years for killing 4 Australian police A truck driver was sentenced to 22 years in prison on Wednesday for hitting and killing four police officers on an Australian freeway. Mohinder Singh was drug-effected and sleep-deprived when his truck veered into an emergency stopping lane of Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway where three policemen and a policewoman were standing after stopping a speeding car on April 22 last year. The four died at the scene. Singh, 48, pleaded guilty in the Victoria state Supreme Court last year to four counts of culpable driving causing death, three charges of drug trafficking and one of possessing illicit drugs.
