President Donald Trump’s estranged niece has warned that her uncle is “unstable” and called again for his removal from office.

Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist and a vocal critic of the president, and told the Guardian on Sunday: “My uncle is unstable. He needs to be removed immediately.”

Last year, Trump, whose tell-all book on her uncle sold over a million copies, was speaking after the violent scenes in Washington, DC, this week when a mob of pro-Trump protestors stormed the Capitol. Five people died during the failed insurrection, including a police officer.

She called for the president to be removed from office via the 25th Amendment, adding: “This is not a time to deliberate. It’s time to act quickly.”

Mary Trump previously called for her uncle’s removal from office in a separate interview with Insider this week, saying he should be “impeached and removed from office immediately.”

“If that doesn’t happen, that is an abject failure of our system and it doesn’t bode well for our very fragile, wounded democracy,” she told Insider.

A growing number of Democratic Congress members, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, want to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump. Any successful effort would need support from the vice president and a majority of Cabinet members.

Trump and Pence have reportedly not spoken since the failed insurrection in Washington on Thursday.

Mary Trump also told Insider that she had not been in contact with President Trump or his immediate family since her book was published, but believed his narcissistic tendencies meant that he would now be more desperate than he ever had been.

“He’s increasingly made desperate by the fact that literally nothing seems to be working. There’s nobody to get him out of this,” she told Insider. She speculated that President Trump would attempt to pardon himself, something he has reportedly discussed in recent days.
