Homestead rolls past Gunn, shares league crown with Saratoga

CUPERTINO — Homestead coach Milo Lewis knew what was at stake heading into Friday. His team did as well. So when the time came around, Lewis had no need for an extravagant, grandiose pregame speech to rally his troops. Rather, he kept his message succinct.
“Do you want to go home? Or do you want to keep playing for another week? It’s up to you,” Lewis said.
Based on its performance Friday, Homestead wanted to play another week, toppling Gunn in a regular-season finale 42-21.

With the win, Homestead will share the Santa Clara County Athletic League’s El Camino Division title with Saratoga.
Harold Rucker III had theatrics up his sleeve for his final home game, totaling three total touchdowns — two rushing and one special teams — and 135 rushing yards. The senior had the two most explosive plays of the night, a 90-yard kickoff return and a 91-yard run.
Alongside Rucker was Jared Wade and Ryan Scudder, the other two heads of Homestead’s running back trio. Wade totaled two touchdowns and 68 rushing yards. Scudder chipped in a touchdown and 98 rushing yards.
