Here’s what it takes to get accepted into Kellogg School of Management’s MBA programs, according to 6 graduates, the senior director of full-time admissions, and a former admissions officer
Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management is one of the best of the best in terms of business schools — ranked number one and number two for MBA programs by The Economist in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Business Insider spoke with eight Kellogg alumni, two of whom have worked or currently work in admissions at the school, about the application process.
These veterans suggest doing plenty of research into Kellogg as well as your own career ambitions to make yourself stand out.
They also emphasize the importance of authenticity and humility in your application and interviews.
Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management is at the top of the food chain no matter whose ranking you use. Its MBA program was ranked number two in the world in 2018 by The Economist (which ranked it number one the year prior) and it’s currently ranked number six domestically by U.S. News & World Report and number four by Forbes.
But whether it lands in the top 10, top five, or top spot any given year, there’s no question that students who aspire to get an MBA from an elite institution want to get in here. A 2019 article on the business school forum Poets & Quants flags the fact that last year, while 4,471 candidates applied to Kellogg, only 978 were admitted, leaving the acceptance rate at just under 22%.
