Report: Toronto Raptors in the running for Markieff Morris


The Toronto Raptors are leaving no stone unturned in maximizing the capabilities of their roster, reportedly.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the Raptors along with the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets are in play for forward Markieff Morris, who was recently waived by the New Orleans Pelicans after being traded by the Washington Wizards.

Morris was cleared to return to basketball activities by a specialist in Los Angeles after being ruled out for at least six weeks in January due to a neck injury termed transient cervical neuropraxia.

The 29-year-old is averaging 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 34 games this season while shooting 33.3 percent from three-point range.

He would address a need for the Raptors as he primarily plays the power forward position where the Raptors currently employ Pascal Siakam as a starter and OG Anunoby in a backup role.

After signing Chris Boucher and Malcolm Miller to the team on Sunday, the anticipated reported signings of Jeremy Lin and Ben McLemore would bring the roster total to 14. That leaves one more open spot for the Raptors to address anything they deem a need.
