Letter: Why can’t Google put its buildings in Tracy or Lodi?

Tech firms in Lodi beats
local high-rise housing

Re: “Housing solution? Build near BART, Bay Area leaders say” (Page B1, Feb. 8):

I think it is interesting all the politicians, corporate leaders, developers and transit providers who convened in Mountain View are deciding what is best for the masses. More high density housing is the solution to the housing issue.

These are the very same individuals who, like Gov. Newsom, likely live in large mansions on large lots, some in Woodside or Portola Valley . They seem to think it is okay to follow the public housing ideas of New York or San Francisco by dictating to cities that they follow this failed plan.

Perhaps a better plan should be stop approving building huge office complexes with no requirements for housing the workers.

Why can’t Google put its buildings in Tracy or Lodi? That would be better for the worker bees than living cheek-to-jowl in a high-rise tenement.
