Warriors’ Report: Draymond Green expected to return vs Lakers
PALO ALTO – The Warriors wrapped up practice at Stanford Thursday evening.
Here are the biggest takeaways from the session.
Draymond Green expected to play in the preseason finale.
After missing the last three preseason games, forward Green is expected to play in the Warriors in the final tuneup Friday against the Lakers.
“Draymond is doing better,” Kerr said. “He feels good, he should play tomorrow.”
On Thursday, Green participated in the team’s one-hour non-contact practice at Stanford and if he plays, it will likely be on a minutes restriction according to Kerr.
Green, who injured the knee last week, participated in a solo workout during a closed session prior to the team’s open practice at Oracle Arena Sunday afternoon. During Friday’s 122-94 win over the Kings, Green rode a stationary bike outside the Warriors’ locker room.
Coach Kerr wants crisper play in preseason rematch vs Lakers.
Despite winning three of the last four titles, the Warriors are still held to a high standard, even in the preseason.
So far, the Warriors haven’t quite matched that standard.
In four games, they’ve averaged 19 turnovers and 26.3 fouls, while giving up 40 percent from three-point range. With the season under a week away, Kerr wants that to change.
“Better defense, our defensive effort the last two games has been poor, Kerr said. “We got to limit our fouls. We’ve been fouling too much, so those are the two things I’m really looking for.”
In the final dress rehearsal, Kerr says he plans to ramp up his all-stars minutes to 30 minutes each, as it will be the last time the team will play until Tuesday’s matchup against the Thunder.
