Six fun SF Bay Area Diwali events for 2018

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, lies just ahead. Here’s where to join celebrations across the San Francisco Bay Area.

AIA – Dussehra/Diwali Dhamaka: 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Oct. 27, Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, 344 Tully Road, San Jose. Fireworks, Ravan Dahan, Bollywood music and dance, food and more. $2-$60.

Marin Dhamaka: 4:30-9:30 p.m. Oct. 27, Hill Middle School, 720 Diablo Ave., Novato. Celebrate the Navratri and Diwali holiday season with a kids’ fancy dress show, photo booth, vendors, cultural show, games and more. Appetizers and dinner will be provided, followed by Dandiya and DJ. $4-$21.

PUSD Dandiya and Bollywood Night 2018 – Festival of Lights Celebration: 5:30-10 p.m. Oct. 27, Pleasanton Middle School, 5001 Case Ave., Pleasanton. The event includes laser Dandiya, Bollywood, Bhangra, Indian Bazaar, food, and an Amador Valley Choir performance to Indian music. $5-$20.

Diwali celebration: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 3, Bankhead Theater Plaza, 2400 First St., Livermore. Enjoy diya decorations, henna, rangoli art, Indian classical songs and dancing, craft projects, food as well as a storytelling of the history and meaning of Diwali. Free.

India Association of Davis Diwali Gala: 4:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 11, Veterans Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St., Davis. Enjoy a variety of cultural programs, snacks and a multi-course dinner. $12-$24.

Annual Diwali Celebration: 7 p.m. Nov. 3, Ronald E. McNair High School, 9550 Ronald E. McNair Way, Stockton. Indian cultural show with dances, music and dinner.
