Taylor Swift endorsed two Democratic candidates in her home state of Tennessee in an Instagram post Sunday evening.
Swift admitted she’s been reluctant to publicly voice her political opinions in the past, but said she was ready to speak up “due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years.”
The 28-year-old said she was spurred to speak out in opposition of Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn, who is running for reelection in Tennessee’s 7th District.
She says she plans to vote for Representative Jim Cooper (D-TN) and Senator Phil Bredesen (D-TN), who sparked controversy for voicing support for Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings.
