Why Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s divorce might not happen
The Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner split has been going on for a long time.
When the married couple first announced they were breaking up in 2015, we were still wringing our hands over the news that Affleck was taking over as Batman. “Noooooo, not Ben!” we protested collectively.
After the release “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” in 2016 we kinda, sorta changed our minds. Not a great flick, but Affleck didn’t embarrass himself as the Caped Crusader.
In 2017, “Justice League” proved to be another disappointment and we renewed our Anyone-but-Ben campaign. That same year, Garner filed for divorce, which to date has yet to be finalized.
So to recap, we’ve gone full circle on Affleck as Batman, but yet he and Garner as still married.
And now the divorce is in jeopardy. According to documents obtained by The Blast, the Los Angeles Superior Court has informed the long-separated couple to get its act together.
The court told Jen and Ben, “If you fail to take the appropriate steps in your case, the court may dismiss your case for delay in prosecution.”
No reaction yet from Lindsay Shookus, Affleck’s girlfriend.

Affleck, 45, and Garner, 46, were married in 2005 and have three children together — daughters Violet, 12, and Seraphina, 9; and son Samuel, 6.
After making their split public, Affleck moved into a guesthouse at the family’s Los Angeles residence. He moved out after he began dating “Saturday Night Live” producer Shookus in 2017, according to The Blast.
Friends have said the couple are close to working out the final details of their divorce settlement. The paperwork should be done by the release of “Batman 12.”
