Federal Government Reopens Investigation Into Emmett Till’s 1955 Death
The federal government is reopening an investigation into the brutal killing of black teenager Emmett Till 63 years ago.
According to a report from the Associated Press out Thursday, the Justice Department told Congress back in March it reopened the case after getting “new information.” It’s unclear what that new information is.
Fourteen-year-old Till was killed in 1955 while visiting family in Mississippi, allegedly for flirting with an older, married white woman.
The DOJ refused to comment on the status of the investigation.
