Another singing-cop video goes viral

Maybe it was the video of those Boston police officers singing God Bless America last week. Or the one of the Monroe, George cops doing their thing on YouTube.

Now we have the uniformed men and women from Norfolk, Virginia getting into it with their lip-synced version of Bruno Mars’ hit Uptown Funk.

Yup. Singing-cop videos across America are going viral.

The Norfolk officers dancing and fake-singing the song by Mars and Mark Ronson has been viewed roughly 28 million times.

According to the Norfolk department, the singing competition started when the Corinth Police Department in Texas did a lip-sync video of Miley Cyrus’s song “Party in the U.S.A.” and challenged other departments, including Norfolk’s. Cpl. William Pickering, a spokesman for the Norfolk department, told the Virginian-Pilot, “It was like, ‘All right, we know what we’ve got to do now.’ ”

This latest video features more than three dozen officers in uniform, dispatchers, firefighters and other support personnel dancing and singing in office hallways and around cubicles.

Yes, singing-cop videos is now a thing.
