Report: Orioles fielding offers from 7 teams for Manny Machado
The Baltimore Orioles are fielding offers from seven teams for all-star infielder Manny Machado, according to Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun.
“The Orioles have received offers from the Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Brewers, Phillies, Braves, Indians and Cubs, and those offers rank in that order,” Encina wrote, citing an industry source. The source added that all offers are “very close,” but that the Dodgers “currently appear to have the best offer on the table” with the Diamondbacks not far behind.

Machado, 26, has been attached to trade rumours all season with the Orioles not in a playoff race and the third baseman turned shortstop expected to test the free agent market at the end of the season.
The report from Encina comes days after The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal wrote that Orioles general manager Dan Duquette was accelerating trade talks to give the acquiring team some extra games with the star player, which could increase the return.
The Orioles entered play Saturday with a 24-64 record, which puts them 40 games below .500 and 31.5 games back in the American League wild card race. Despite the team’s struggles Machado has had a very productive season, slashing .310/.381/.560 with 21 home runs and 59 RBIs.
The non-waiver MLB trade deadline is July 31.
