Mormon Tabernacle Choir finally returns to Bay Area after 13-year wait

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is finally heading back to the Bay Area.

And if it seems like it’s been forever since the acclaimed choir’s last visit, well, that’s because it has been. The choir’s last Bay Area trip was in 2005, when the ensemble performed in San Jose and Oakland. So, that helps explain why there’s so much excitement around the celebrated choir’s long-awaited return.

The choir’s 360 members include Michele Scott, who grew up in Sunnyvale and sounds thrilled to be returning.

“I was very excited when I found out that we would be touring to my old hometown this year,” Scott said. “What I love about the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is that we do what we do to help people feel happy and peaceful and bring good into the world. You feel better when you walk out than when you walked in for a concert.”

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra will perform June 23 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, June 25 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View and June 27 at Weill Hall and Lawn at Green Music Center in Rohnert Park.
