Watch: Dave Stewart ‘excited’ to work with young A’s pitchers

MESA, Ariz. — If you were to describe A’s legend Dave Stewart’s demeanor on the mound throughout his storied 16-year career, excitement would be the last adjective you would use.

Stewart was known for his “Death Stare.” He was intense, with an intimidating presence on the mound. But now serving as a Special Instructor during the first week of A’s spring training, excitement was the best way he could describe his opportunity to serve as a resource to the young pitchers on the roster.

“I’m excited. For as excited as I get,” Stewart said with a chuckle.
