How Warriors handled Drake’s trash talk in win over Raptors

TORONTO – The moment Warriors forward Kevin Durant missed a one-handed dunk, he did not just feel the scorn from thousands of Raptors fans jeering at him. Durant had to hear from one particularly vocal fan sitting courtside. The person was Drake, the hip-hop artist that considers himself a devoted Raptors fan.
“I hated missing that one,” Durant said following the Warriors’ 127-125 victory over the Raptors on Saturday. “I had to ignore him. I heard him talking some trash too on the sideline.”
Therefore, Durant immediately shut Drake up with a two-handed dunk on the next possession. Warriors guard Stephen Curry experienced something similar when he missed two foul shots as the Warriors nursed a 123-122 lead with 45.2 seconds left. In between jeers, Curry then made a pair of free-throws for a 127-125 with 2.5 seconds left.
“I don’t pay it no mind,” Curry said of Drake’s trash talk. “You got to knock those down.”

Despite Drake’s allegiance to the Raptors, he apparently has a soft spot for the Warriors. Drake recently tattooed the numbers for both Curry (No. 30) and Durant (No. 35). Curry said “next question” about what he thought about that. Durant said he told Drake, “I’m not talking about no other man’s tattoos.” And Green dismissed an inquiry on if he felt slighted.
“Why would I take that personally that another man got someone tattooed on?” Green said.
Durant sounded just as incredulous for Drake’s role in making the Raptors a tough opponent.
